APRIL 2009

MODIFICATION AND UPGRADE OF OLD  MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT

With our engineering resources, we are able to modify and update your old equipment.  This modification was done on a fifty year old drilling and broaching machine that was well built, mechanically.  We rebuilt this machine completely, replacing the wear components and providing a completely new electrical system.

                                                BEFORE

                                                             AFTER

Old controls requiring manual settings each time a changeover was made, have been replaced with modern controls, including touch screen interface and PLC system providing variable speed and feed control.  Program storage capacity with rapid recall, provides easier, more reliable production, with less down time.

Safety features were also added, to protect at setup or changeover, as well keeping the operator safe during production.

                                                OCTOBER  2006

KAMASHIAN ENGINEERING                                              DEEP SEA FISHING TRIP

On October 21st, 2006 our company chartered a boat from Newport Beach along with some of our valued customers and went out to Catalina Island for a great day’s fishing trip.

Everybody caught a lot of fish with many even hitting their limits. Sam Rastguelanian landed the biggest fish of the day and took home the $100 jackpot!

The day ended with a fever pitch bite on Bonita that can best be described as “cast out & hold on!”

On the journey home we were fortunate enough to see a spectacular view of a humpback whale breaching many times, close to our boat. All that and a sunset to write home about left everyone saying, “when is the next trip?”

                                                      JUNE 2006

Juan Munoz, Kamashian Engineering ,
Tool and Die Making = One Powerful Force.

On May 4th, we sent Juan Munoz to the National Apprentice Competition for the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) in Tempe, Arizona following his win at both the regional and area phases of the apprentice competition.
For the National competition Juan would join with contestants from around the country to test the knowledge and skill they had gained both from their place of employment and from their educational training. Backed by Kamashian Engineering, Juan set out for the big competition.
The pressures were high, as the contestants got ready to face the next two days of heavy competition. A luxury resort and a schedule full of activities certainly helped sooth some nerves at least!
As he prepared himself for the two days and total of 16 hours of tests that lay ahead of him, Juan’s heart raced. According to Swain Cox, “When I talked with some of the owners, and they were saying that they had twenty or thirty apprentices a year, and these guys competing were the best, I realized just how difficult it would be to win.” By the end of the competition, however, it became apparent that any previous doubts would have to be rethought!
Juan Munoz had become the National Champion!
What was the pay-off for all this work? Aside from the prizes and attention that is now directed at NTMA, Kamashian Engineering, and Juan himself, it lies in the fact that a “tool and die maker” is still a good career and a rewarding, powerful force.

Juan Munoz, of Kamashian Engineering Inc. is NTMA’s
2006 National Champion. Here posing trophy in hand
